The Bank of England have announced that they have reduced the base rate of interest by 0.25% to 4.5%.

This reduction has been expected by many analysts and financial experts. In terms of mortgage rates, we have seen some reductions in the fixed rates on offer over recent days and I expect more lenders to follow over the coming days.

These reductions are not as a direct result of today’s announcement, but hopefully are a sign of where lenders see rates going for the remainder of 2025.

If you currently have a tracker rate mortgage, you will see a reduction in your mortgage interest rate and therefore payments. Your lender will contact you in the next few days with the details.

As a mortgage is secured against your home or property, it could be repossessed if you do not keep up mortgage repayments.
